Cunard celebrates the Queen's Diamond Jubilee with a unique meeting in Southampton. The three ships of the Cunard Line - the Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria - met for the first time in their home port as part of the Jubliee Weekend celebrations. Arriving at dawn the Queen Mary 2 led her running mates, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth, in single file up Southampton Water, escorted by the tug Svitzer Sarah.
The Queen Mary 2 sailed up to the Upper Swinging Ground, whilst the Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth docked bow-to-bow alongside the Mayflower Cruise Terminal and City Cruise Terminal respectively. The Queen Mary 2 sailed slowly past both ships, each exchanging blasts on their whistles, before the Queen Mary 2 docked at the Ocean Terminal.
In the evening, just before 9:30pm the Queen Mary 2 left the Ocean Terminal and headed past her running mates to the Upper Swinging Ground. Then following a fireworks display the three ships sailed down Southampton Water, the Queen Mary 2 leading the Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth.
