The QE2 is set to become an exclusive Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions venue. Following the success of the New Year's Party aboard ship the QE2's owners, Istithmar World, have reported "many enquiries from across the globe...with people asking if they could use the QE2 as a venue for their event", confirmed spokesperson Leili Gerami.
As reported by Gulf News and Business Traveller the QE2 will be marketed as a high-end, luxurious venue; a so-called Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions, or MICE, venue. The opportunities discussed for the QE2 could include "birthday parties, weddings and corporate functions". For fans of the QE2, there may also be the opportunity for tourists to visit the ship.
The QE2 is no stranger to hosting meetings and events. The Boat Deck Boardroom was created aboard the QE2 in 1987 and was an exclusive venue for meetings. Former owners, the Cunard Line, as a Gold Patron of The Prince's Trust held exclusive lunches on board the QE2, with guests making a donation to the Trust in return for a guided tour and lunch aboard the QE2. The last such event was held in Southampton on 27 October 2008.
