QE2 News 29-03-2011

The Queen Elizabeth 2 is voted Britain's most famous cruise ship in a survey published today. YouGov interviewed 4,000 adults aged over 18 between 24 and 29 November 2010. Amongst a representative sample of the general public the QE2 was the most recognised cruise ship, over two years since she retired to Dubai following her sale by Cunard.

The second most recognised cruise ship was the QE2's former running mate the Queen Mary 2. The percentage surveyed naming the QE2 (13 per cent) was more than that for the new Queen Elizabeth (8 per cent) and Queen Victoria (4 per cent) combined, despite the recent publicity of the Queen Elizabeth's maiden voyage in October 2010.

YouGov also surveyed adults who had either been on a cruise in the last five years, or intended to do so in the next ten years. The Queen Mary 2 was the most named ship (28 per cent). Amongst recent cruise passengers the QE2 was still the joint-eighth most recognised cruise ship, alongside P&O's Arcadia and Royal Caribbean International's Independence of the Seas.
