Original historic items from the QE2 are unveiled aboard Cunard's newest ship, the Queen Elizabeth. Two weeks before the maiden voyage of the Queen Elizabeth from Southampton to the Canary Islands, Cunard have released details of memorabilia and historic items on display aboard their latest cruise ship, the Queen Elizabeth. Alongside newly commissioned artwork, original artefacts from the QE2 have been included.
Two items from the QE2's Queens Room - the bust of The Queen by Oscar Nemon and the Royal Standard - will be displayed in the Queens Room aboard the Queen Elizabeth. Three more items from the QE2 - the silver model of the QE2 made by the jewellers Asprey from the Midship Lobby, the Ship's Bell from D-Stairway on Three Deck, and the Builder's Plate from the Officer's Wardroom - will be on display in the Queen Elizabeth's Yacht Club.
The interiors of the new Queen Elizabeth, built by Fincantieri at Monfalcone in Italy, have been designed to evoke the grandeur of Cunard's original Queen Elizabeth. The latest Cunarder is the company's second largest ship ever and the third new liner the company has built in six years.
