Tugs move the QE2 from her waterfront position at Port Rashid in Dubai to an inner berth. On 22 September 2010 reports from Dubai appeared on the QE2 Story Forum (http://www.theqe2story.com/forum/) confirming that the QE2 was moved by four tugs, to a position away from the dockside to provide more capacity for regular cruise ship traffic.
Following her arrival in Dubai on 26 November 2008 the QE2 remained at the dockside in Port Rashid. Visitors to the port aboard Dubai-bound cruise ships have been able to see the QE2 docked alongside the waterfront. Images from these passengers and the ship's webcams have provided the QE2 Story Forum with regular images of the QE2 in Dubai.
Despite this latest move the future for the QE2 still appears uncertain. Her nine engines are cycled through to power the ship - to provide lighting and air conditioning - and her propellers turned to keep her in working order. In July 2009 the QE2 was dry-docked and her hull and superstructure repainted. Dubai remains tight-lipped on future plans for the QE2.
