QE2 News 22-01-2010

Captain Ian McNaught, the QE2's final captain, leaves Cunard for the Yachts of Seabourn cruise line. His maritime career began with the BP Tanker Company and later Hullgates Shipping of Grimsby, before moving to the P&O Line and later the Cunard Line.

Captain McNaught first joined the QE2 in September 1987 as a Second Officer later becoming Staff Captain in 1991, following serving aboard the Cunard Princess. In April 2003 Captain McNaught became the QE2's twenty-first Master and the QE2's youngest master at the age of forty-eight. His final command aboard the QE2 was her final voyage to Dubai in November 2008.

Passengers who have sailed aboard the QE2 with Ian McNaught as Master will recall his friendly manner with passengers of all ages, his good humour during the cruise, his patience signing passenger's momentos and will treasure their photographs from the Captain's cocktail party. But above all they will remember his genuine affection for the QE2 and wish him best for his new career with Yachts of Seabourn.
